Socio-Economic Scoping For Project Development

Prior to investing in project development (in the Renewable Energy Sector particularly, but also in relation to Mining and other infrastructure projects), our clients engage us to review the Socio-Economic dynamics within the target geographies.
This is important because:
The project, if developed, will be required to work with the local communities for the duration of the operation (in the case of Renewable Energy, this is at least 20 years).
Most projects in South African require investment in Local Community Development or Local Economic Development – this requires extensive stakeholder engagement.
Project owners need to understand the risks and opportunities within their target geographies to determine the feasibility of their intended projects.
In 2023 – we completed socio-economic scoping that supported the development of over 3 000MW of Renewable Energy generation projects across Southern Africa.
